Resident Evil 7 is set to launch in just a few short days for the Xbox One, PC, and PlayStation 4 platforms. However, with the Nintendo Switch coming out in just a few short months there are some gamers interested in seeing if the upcoming survival horror title will also be ported over. Turns out, if you’re looking forward to playing the latest upcoming Resident Evil release on-the-go with Nintendo’s upcoming console, you’re out of luck.
Express got in touch with Resident Evil 7 producer, Masachika Kawata, and asked if it’s possible that Resident Evil 7 will also find a home on the Nintendo Switch platform. Unfortunately, that doesn’t seem to be the case. While Masachika Kawata admits that the hardware for the Nintendo Switch is interesting and looking forward to new possibilities with the console, there are no plans on bringing over Resident Evil.
“I think it’s a very unique piece of hardware, I’m looking forward to the possibilities of the system itself, but we have no plans at the moment regarding Resident Evil on Switch.”
This may already be a bit alarming for gamers cautious on adopting the upcoming console. One of the biggest issues, when it came to the downfall of Nintendo’s Wii U, was the lack of third-party support and with big name titles such as Resident Evil 7 not seeing a release with Nintendo’s upcoming console could already show signs of trouble for Nintendo.
Perhaps this could change depending on how many gamers adopt the console upon launch, but it’s clear that Nintendo will want to see big name third-party releases on the console this time around.
