Borderlands 2 isn't the only game Gearbox is working on. The studio is also developing a first person shooter set in Alien universe by the title of Aliens: Colonial Marines.
The game is set as a "true sequel" to James Cameron's Aliens, taking place directly after the events of the third movie. The story is written by Battlestar Galactica writers Bradley Thompson and David Weddle and is confirmed to be an official part of the canon.
Aside from the game's canonical single-player campaign, which puts players in the role of Corporal Christopher Fox, a colonial marine who's a part of the search and rescue team dispatched to LV-426, Aliens: Colonial Marines will also come with a host of multiplayer modes, the first of which has been revealed today as Escape Mode.
This competitive mode will allow you to team up with either the alien Xenos or the marines. The goal of the marines is to get the hell out of there while alien players pick off the human team one by one. In short, it's a lot like the second movie.
There will be four Marines in a team, and their objective is to escape, while the four Aliens will do their damnest to rip the Marines to pieces.
We get to see the Xeno Solider whose main forte is the close-quarters combat and has a high damage resistance, the Xeno Lurker who seems to be the agile one out of the bunch and can cling to walls, and the Xeno Spitter which can spit acid for long range damage.
Published by Sega, the game is set for release on the Xbox 360, PS3, PC, And Wii U in February 2013.
