During Kojima Productions' 25th Anniversary Metal Gear event, the studio unveiled a new game in the franchise…but it's not what you were expecting.
The game is called Metal Gear Solid: Social Ops and is being built for the GREE social platform and is being built with the Unity engine, run in 3D and is being made for smartphones for release later this year.
Here are the game's first images courtesy of Famitsu:
In addition to the social game, Kojima also revealed the event's megaton — a Metal Gear Solid clothing line! There's a Metal Gear steel watch, along with a slew of Metal Gear-themed shirts and more.
Here's your first look at some of the stuff they have lined up for Metal Gear fans who literally want to wear their love of the franchise on their sleeves.
Yep, I'm obviously joking. While the watch looks good enough, this is not the "industry" shaking announcement that Kojima has planned for the event. As of this writing, there's still no word whether the clothing line will be exclusive to Japan or if it will be available in the West, too.
Anyone of you interested in a Metal Gear social game? If not, what about wearing a Metal Gear shirt? We'll post more info from the event as they're made available.
Thanks, John Ricciardi, Mark MacDonald, NeoGAF and Famitsu
