A small team branching off from DeadIsland developer Techland have begun development on a new first-person Hack-and-Slash, currently codenamed Project Hell.
The game, according to an official blog post, began as a Dead Island mod by one of its own developers, Marcin “MZM” Zygadlo. Techland was impressed enough by the mod to commit a team to fully developing it into a commercial product using the DeadIsland engine.
"Our main goal is to make a game we can all enjoy playing so don't expect unicorns and fairies – we prefer breaking through hordes of undead minions only to slaughter their devilish and loathsome masters in a bloody boss-fight," designer and project manager Marcin "Kruq" Kruczkiewicz writes, urging gamers to be active participants in the game’s creation:
“Everything posted here is work in progress which you can comment convincing us in our greatness or causing us to go home and rethink our lives. We will also ask for your help in making some decisions.”
As far as platforms are concerned, the developer had this to say:
“We're currently working on the PC version but Xbox 360 and PS3 versions are also possible. It all depends on how the game is received."
