Known for their preservational endeavours in the retro gaming scene since 2007, Retro-Bit has announced Super Retro Boy, an extension of the original Game Boy which allows players to enjoy Game Boy, Game Boy Color and Game Boy Advance games. Yes, really.
Revealed at this year’s CES (Consumer Electronics Show), the Super Retro Boy is a third party product that reinvents Nintendo’s classic formula by adding two additional buttons. The interface looks like a Game Boy at first blush, but will include L and R buttons on top of the original A and B buttons, in what looks like a re-positioning of the Game Boy Advance’s L and R shoulder buttons.
Instead of four AAA batteries, the Super Retro Boy will operate on a 2,500mAh rechargeable battery that will reportedly allow up to 10 hours of gaming time. North American audiences can expect the Super Retro Boy to launch this August at a recommended retail price of $79.99 USD.
