Battlefield 4's announcement and reveal was not met with the same level of enthusiasm compared to Battlefield 3. It was mostly due to BF3 being released just last year and immediately knowing a new version will be coming out after a year's time.
However, would FPS fans have reacted the same way if the reveal was for Battlefield: Bad Company 3? People were expecting that game to be unveiled before Battlefield 4 — though, when you think about it, isn't it just a name?
DICE Executive Producer Patrick Bach thinks this might be the case, though he also admitted that whatever they did, there's bound to be a group of people who'll always complain.
We’d probably [have gotten] a better reaction [to a Bad Company 3 announcement] within a certain group of our community, but again, we’re getting a lot of good feed back for BF4, and of course there are some people who want something different…No matter what you do, there’s always those who want something different, so it’s a constant struggle.
The full interview is embedded below. Bach also talks about Battlefield 3 and how people seem to forget that there's been a Battlefield game every other year; so them releasing BF4 next year shouldn't be as surprising as some people think.
Are you fine with DICE releasing Battlefield 4 next year or would you rather it be Bad Company 3? Come to think of it, what do you think will the main differences be between Bad Company 3 to Battlefield 4?
Thanks, VG247
