While Japanese RPGs are not as big as they were in previous console generations, the genre still has a few gems left in it as proven by Namco Banda's upcoming Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch.
In this 15-minute gameplay clip below (courtesty of GameSpot), we get to see the game's wonderfully drawn graphics — courtesy of Studio Ghibli — come to life in actual gameplay. Aside from that, we get to see the game's combat and it's not your traditional JRPG fare.
Honestly, I know we shouldn't judge a game based on how it looks, but it's hard to do just that when something this gorgeous comes along. It's definitely a nice respite from the usual dreary brown and dark colors most games these days go for.
Hopefully, Namco Bandai made the right choice in localizing this and it manages to make a dent at retail even though it's not a shooter, no?
Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch is set for release on January 22, 2013 exclusively for the PS3.
