Square Enix’s has released information detailing Dragon Quest XI world, character’s back stories, and locations, teasing the upcoming JRPG release:
On PlayStation 4, flowers, every tree, flowing waterfalls, and monsters are vividly expressed in vast and beautiful fields. The lifestyles of people in the towns are also depicted at their highest.
Characters
—The protagonist. He watches over the people of the warm Ishi Village, where you grew up soundly. On the day he turns 16, the curtain raises on the story of Dragon Quest XI.
A young man who lives in the calm village of Ishi. The protagonist, who began a coming-of-age ceremony when he turned 16, learns an astonishing truth. He is the reincarnation of the “hero” that once saved the world, someone who carries the burden of a major mission…
The hero is something. The hero’s mission is something. In order to confirm his fate with his own eyes, the protagonist leaves his homeotown and steps forward to the vast world.
He has a birthmark on his left hand. In times of crisis, the birthmark glows and a mysterious power awakens.
—Emma, a close childhood friend of the protagonist, who was born on the same day as him. When they both turned 16, they did their coming-of-age ceremony together.
—Camus, a reliable partner. He is a blue-haired thief that the protagonist encounters on his journey. Although there is a rude side to his behavior and speech, he possesses a strong sense of duty and a warm heart. As a partner used to the ways of the world, he supports and guides the novice protagonist.
World: Lotozetasia
Dragon Quest XI is set in the world of Lotozetasia. A sacred tree, “The Great Tree of Life,” is said to be the source of all life that created this vast world. What kind of adventure awaits you in this world?
A great tree that floats in the center of the world. It is said the hero, who possesses a deep relationship with the Great Tree, can commune with the soul of the Great Tree.
Ishi Village (The Protagonist’s Hometown)
Ishi Village, the place from which the protagonist sets off on his adventure, is a small, quiet village located in the corner of the valley area. Its people, who worship the spirits of the earth, live peacefully in the village. There are few shops and facilities, but it thrives in stock-farming and horses are often seen here. Those who reach the age of 16 must take part in a village tradition to climb “God’s Rock,” a rocky mountain in which the spirits of earth dwell, to offer their prayers.
Dragon Quest XI is set to release on PS4 and 3DS in Japan next year, unfortunately there is no confirmed western release date.
