In November Sony’s PS4 finally managed to reclaim it’s top selling spot after having been beaten by the Xbox One for four months straight.
According to industry-tracking firm The NPD Group, the Ps4 was the best-selling console in November in the United States. Sony’s boost in sales is likened to the release of the PS4 Pro, a 4K compatible version of the PS4 which launched the 10th of November.
In previous years November has been one of the most important months with regards to gaming hardware and videogames itself. This is mainly because it is the month kicking off the festive season and due to Black Friday Whereby the Xbox One and Ps4 were some of the most high in demand products on Black Friday and Cyber Monday
Sony has denied comments on NPD’s claims but Microsofts marketing leader Mike Nicholas stated that consumers do have a specific high demand for consoles during November.
“We have seen strong momentum for Xbox One since announcing the new Xbox One S at E3 in June,” Nichols said. “That momentum continued in November as gaming consoles were once again among the most sought-after products to buy over Black Friday weekend. In addition, we saw record engagement among Xbox One owners on Xbox Live as fans enjoyed new games and great deals. In fact, the total players online on Sunday, November 27 was up 40 percent compared to last year.”
