As Star Wars: Battlefront comes to a close with its final DLC pack this month, EA reconfirms that a sequel to the hit game is on its way and that it will fix the major issues from the first title.
Many players had glowing reviews for Star Wars: Battlefront, but there was also a lot of people who had some criticism. One of the biggest complaints was that it felt like the game was lacking content. EA CFO Blake Jorgensen directly mentioned that the development team took that to heart and are now planning to fix those issue in the sequel.
“If there was criticism, they just wanted more. So we’re taking that criticism to heart as we build the next game and trying to address any of the issues that they had.”
Jorgensen also noted that Star Wars: Battlefront 2 will be able to take advantage of the newer movie releases like episode 7 and 8. Battlefront was mainly centered around the original films leaving little creative room for the developers. However, that will all change in the sequel as it is said to be “much bigger” and “larger” scale to work with.
“We’re looking forward to bringing to the table next year a much bigger, much more exciting Battlefront. This year we’ll have the opportunity to leverage content from the new movies and we think that will make the opportunities much larger.”
Star Wars: Battlefront 2 is set to release in the Fall of 2017 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
