According to Activision-Blizzard's latest financials report for the second quarter, Diablo III has managed to sell 8.8 million copies since launch. In addition to that, there's also another 1.2 million from its Annual Pass that gives the game more than 10 million players as a whole.
Aside from that impressive stat, the publisher also revealed that about 16.9 million players have logged in to Battle.net just in the last month alone.
However, it wasn't just Diablo III that raked in the dough for the publisher as Skylanders Spyro's Adventures has become the number one action-figure line in the US according to Activision. Not only that, but the game was the best-selling console and handheld game in revenue, once you factor in sales figures.
All of these equates to Activision posting a total revenue of $1.08 billion, which is higher than expected but still lower compared to the same time period last year ($1.15 billion).
Activision CEO Bobby Kotick had this to say.
Our performance was driven by strong audience demand for our great games,..For the first six months, we had the top three best-selling games in North America and Europe with Activision Publishing’s Skylanders Spyro’s Adventures and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, and Blizzard Entertainment’s record setting Diablo III.
For the remainder of the year, we are excited about our product slate which includes Activision Publishing’s Skylanders Giants and Call of Duty: Black Ops II, and Blizzard Entertainment’s World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria,
