Valve recently announced their version of the Oscars® called Steam Awards, which are probably best described as accolades for excellence in a given gaming genre or category. There are 8 categories that are set, but Valve has encouraged the Steam community to come up with the final category – with memeworthy results.
One of the most popular fan-made categories is “The Game That Deserves a Sequel” award. Many folks have chimed in with Half-Life 2: Episode 2, and Reddit user GruffBarbarian has taken things up a notch by launching a campaign that urges other Steam users to vote for the game using the aforementioned category.
The eventual hope is for Valve to take notice, and deliver fans the sequel they’ve been yearning after for years. Although nothing is set in stone, the “Let Valve Know” movement is growing, and with titles like Owlboy and The Last Guardian finally emerging after particularly long development cycles, perhaps the Steam Awards will be the final push needed to make Half-Life 3 happen.
