When I reported last week that Planetside 2 was entering closed beta on either Monday or Tuesday, it looked all but certain that the beta would launch. Sony Online Entertainment boss John Smedley even tweeted that the initiative would begin this week, "barring any unforeseen circumstances."
Well ladies and gents, it looks like there have indeed been some unforeseen circumstances, prompting SOE to delay the closed beta for a while longer. Smedley returned to Twitter to post an update explaining the game's delay:
“Beta likely going to start Friday or Monday," he wrote. "Had planned for today or tomorrow, but we have some stuff we need to make sure is awesome. The team is working like crazy, but we need to polish some stuff and test it before we let in a massive [number] of people.”
Well, that's a bummer. Hopefully the delays will be justified when they do finally launch the beta.
