Hideo Kojima to Showcase the FOX Engine in August

July 23, 2012 by Alex Co

Hideo Kojima has revealed that we will get to see Kojima Production’s FOX Engine in August! Could this be Metal Gear Solid 5’s unveiling?

Hideo Kojima, creator of the Metal Gear Solid franchise, is set to officially showcase their FOX Engine on August 30 in Japan and he's heavily hinting that he'll be doing it within a game.

This news was revealed by Kojima himself as he took to the Official PlayStation Blog to talk about Metal Gear's 25th Anniversary. Yep, I officially feel very old now.

In the blog, Kojima had this to say regarding Kojima Production's vaunted FOX Engine.

The Fox Engine is nearly finished, but the only way to be sure it works is to create a game at the same time and improve the engine with our tools as we go along. Originally we were going to do this for Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, but a lot happened along the way and instead it is being made with the engine they have at Platinum Games

Production studios in Japan are nearly extinct, a fact that we have recognized for nearly 10 years, and although the Fox Engine is not finished we are ready to show what it can do… on August 30th in Japan to be more specific.

So, does this mean Kojima is set to unveil Metal Gear Solid 5? It's either that or they're going to be doing a tech demo. Hopefully, it's a tech demo for Metal Gear Solid 5 so everybody wins, no?

Be sure to read up on what Kojima thought of each game in his series by reading the entire thing.

So, do you think this is for Metal Gear Solid 5 or is this a whole new franchise? If given a choice, what would you want the FOX Engine's debut game to be?
