When Batman: Arkham City was released on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, it only played at a maximum of 720p. The game looks a lot better on the PC, but it's certainly hampered by the technical limitations of both consoles.
The Nintendo Wii U is slated to carry better hardware than its rivals and as such, Batman: Arkham City Armored Edition will be running at a full 1080p on the console when it's released this holiday season.
Batman: Arkham City is just one of many preexisting console games that will be running at a higher resolution when they come out for the Wii U.
Nintendo's representatives at the Chicago Wii U Experience also confirmed that Assassin's Creed 3 will be running at 1080p unlike its counterparts on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, providing gamers with a pretty good reason to pick up the Wii U once it comes out.
