Mike Morhaime may have written a letter to the community a few days ago about the state of Diablo 3 and what they plan to do with it, but little was said on the topic of the Player vs Player mode. The highly anticipated mode was originally planned as a main feature of the game at release, but as its overlong development prompted the studio to release the game without PvP mode in tow.
The game's lead designer Jay Wilson has since broken the silence in an interview with the Jace Hall show, where he previewed the PvP mode.
According to Wilson, the competitive mode will allow players to form a team of four players either by themselves or through the automated matchmaking system to participate in a battle to the death against an opposing team.
Each match will be expected to last up to ten minutes and will play out as a classic deathmatch.
Like Unreal Tournament, Halo, and Quake Live, the PvP mode in Diablo 3 will have an announcer who will call out kills and promote engagement.
Players may not have long to wait for the PvP mode to come out, but Jay Wilson says that the loot fixes remain the top priority for now.
