The name of this game is a mouthful. But if you wanted to play Nobunaga’s Ambition: Sphere of Influence – Ascension, now you can. The Nobunaga’s Ambition license has been in possession of Koei Tecmo since the 1990s, and they’re the ones behind this most recent release in the series. See it in action with this launch trailer.
What happens in this historical strategy game is you take the role of a military officer and work your way up to Shogun as you unite Japan. Ascension depicts many notable events from the Sengoku Era of the country, where it was a chaotic battle between different lords. The more land the player conquers, the better overall standing they have in society. The more you listen to the people and carry out the orders of the Lord, the more responsibilities you obtain. You can take on your clan’s leaders and seize control for yourself, or abandon them and join up with another crew if they seem to have better opportunities for you. The game has the standard on-foot battles between warring sides on land, but you can also engage in naval battles and sieges.
Nobunaga’s Ambition: Sphere of Influence – Ascension is available now on PC and PS4. The game has a launch discount on Steam starting now, until November 1st. If you want to try it out for free, you can during the Free Weekend that runs from October 27th to October 30th.
