Amazon has announced a new addition to the Kindle Fire's repertoire of gameplay features. GameCircle will offer a plethora of services that will build gaming on the Android device. By implementing achievements, leaderboards, and cloud sync, Amazon seeks to enrich the Fire experience for both developers and players.
GameCircle achievements and leaderboards work exactly as you would expect them to. Amazon is focusing heavily on the ability to check each new feature without having to leave your gameplay.
With the addition of sync functionality to the Fire, players can transfer save states between devices without fear of losing data. The clouds are watching over us at all times, like a friendly Big Brother who carries all your stuff.
Paul Ryder, Vice President of Apps, Games, and Services at Amazon said, “GameCircle gives developers the right tools to build an immersive, more entertaining experience on Kindle Fire, which will ultimately help developers grow their business.”
Developers and Fire-owners alike should be excited about these additions, as Amazon seems to be making a real effort to grow the tablet as a gaming device. I'm still wishing for Bluetooth support for a wireless controller.
