It isn’t the first time the Pokemon series had made a demo preview build available to the public, as the idea had previously been implemented back with Pokemon X and Y. But once more, eager trainers looking to try out the next adventure a little early have the chance to with the Pokemon Sun and Moon demo available as of today. It’s definitely a more hands-on approach to the experience, when compared to the video footage being shown on the developer’s social media channels.
Below this adorable Pokemon ad, there will be SPOILERS for the demo. You’ve been warned.
Data mining has revealed a ton of previously unannounced Pokemon and Alola forms. The data for Ultra Beasts includes “shiny” variants (in the games, this refers to rare Pokemon with a different color), which leads people to believe the mysterious Ultra Beasts are indeed catchable. A special Ash-Greninja (level 36) is given to you at the very start of the demo, and you’ll be able to transfer it to the full game once it releases next month. You use this Greninja through the events of the demo. It takes place in Hau’oli City and the trail you participate in happens at Ten Carat Hill. You have to take photos of Jangmo-o and Hakamo-o. There’s also a Pokemon Capture Challenge that has some of the game’s new wild Pokemon you can encounter. You can transfer items and captured Pokemon to the main game. Watch playthroughs on YouTube or grab it for yourself today to get an idea of what to expect.
A few in-game events are apparently activated on a time-based system.
- Hat Lady in the corner- 4 days (October 22)
- Pikachu’s birthday in the City Hall- 12 days (October 30)
- Shady Business Cop at Marina- 18 days (November 5)
