Gamer Discovers PlayStation VR Can Display Video From Xbox One & PC

October 13, 2016 by Dennis Patrick

Gamer already discovers workaround for PlayStation VR.

PlayStation-VR

Today was Sony’s big launch for their virtual reality headset, simply known as the PlayStation VR. There are plenty of gamers who will be jumping onto the latest product from Sony and already gamers are discovering a feature that was not intended to be used when Sony crafted the product.

Thanks to a post on Reddit, we’re learning that the PlayStation VR headset can be used in tandem with other consoles. One of the features that the PlayStation VR has is the ability to stream content from the PlayStation 4 directly. The feature is known as Cinematic Mode and it essentially works through an HDMI splitter.

With that said, gamers can plug just about anything with an HDMI output such as an Xbox One, PC, or even the Nintendo Wii U. This is certainly not something that Sony likely had in mind when launching the PlayStation VR.

There are some issues when it comes to the PlayStation VR Cinematic Mode being used for other consoles. Gamers would normally have to center the image on the PlayStation VR through the use of the PlayStation 4 DualShock 4 controller. Because gamers are not able to connect a DualShock 4 controller to something like the Xbox One or Nintendo Wii U consoles, the Cinematic Mode will likely not become widely used with other devices.

Regardless, finding out ways to use the PlayStation VR headset outside of the PlayStation 4 console already is pretty impressive. We’re sure there will be other interesting tidbits discovered from the PlayStation VR headset as time goes on. Since the device has just launched today, we’re curious as to if you plan on picking the headset up. Let us know by leaving a comment down below.
