Some of us are gluttons for punishment. That’s why we’d bother to sit through nearly an hour of footage for a game that will never be.
In this case, the game is Star Wars: Battlefront III and the footage is an over-56-minute walkthrough of its pre-alpha build. Consider this a very rough cut of the game, but also an illustration of a ton of lost progress and lost potential.
The story goes that a few years back, developer Free Radical had to abandon the project remarking financial troubles. Many were laid off and the game was scrapped after two years of development. In 2009, the company was bought by Crytek and resurfaced as Crytek UK, but the sequel remains just a dream.
In the meantime, we can revel in what might have been.
