Before you is the somewhat-NSFW trailer for the upcoming documentary, “More Than a Game” by filmmaker Tom Hewett, which follows a number of top Street Fighter players to the competitive fighting game mecca: Evo.
Specifically, the film follows these pro players to the Evolution 2011 tournament, aiming the camera on their physical and mental training processes, their emotional highs and lows, and of course, the competition itself.
Originally, the film was scheduled for this past June, but the official Facebook page currently states that the film is now being prepped for a screening at Evo 2012 in Las Vegas, which in fact begins this Friday, spanning the weekend. Hewett told RipTen that Evo 2012 viewers will be seeing an extra-long (we’re talking about three hours or so) “rough cut,” and that a shorter, final cut will be completed in the weeks following the event.
Hewett says he then plans to enter the film into various festivals, providing a free, wide release to the public during August and September. Finally, the film will then be made available for download and streaming.
