Microsoft has announced its plans to offer Windows users an upgrade to Windows 8 Pro for the relatively low price of $39.99 once the new OS becomes available. The offer is open to anyone on Windows XP, Vista, or 7.
Windows users will be able to download the update online and install Windows 8 without needing to go out and purchase the physical upgrade, which costs $69.99 at retail. The new upgrade plan is clearly a competitive response to Apple's announced $20 price tag for Mac OS X Mountain Lion which comes out sometime this month.
If you're planning to game on the PC, it's a good idea to snatch up the upgrade when it becomes available. Windows 8 will open new avenues for gaming with titles Windows 8-exclusive titles like Ilomilo and Toy Soldiers, which will be released on the Windows Store once the OS goes live.
Need a good reason to upgrade? I just named two.
