Speaking to the press at the Anime Expo, NIS America's Souhei Niikawa, producer of the Disgaea series and president of Nippon Ichi Software, says that Disgaea 5 is currently in development at the studio.
Niikawa was unable to provide details about the platforms they plan to release the game on, or reveal anything more than an announcement that the game was in development.
The producer said that fans of the series can expect to hear more about Disgaea 5 in the coming weeks when they launch the game's website and make a proper announcement.
Like the previous games, Disgaea 5 will see an international release outside of Japan. The series as a whole has enjoyed success and become something of a cult hit.
Disgaea 3 was most recently released for the PlayStation Vita and features an updated roster of characters, customizable weapons, and new features unique to the PS Vita platform. Our feature of the game will be going up next week.
