In a completely appropriate and fair move, Blizzard has lifted the wait period for digital Diablo III purchasers. Gamers will no longer be stuck at the end of Act I pending verification. Hey, look at that! You can actually play the game you bought!
With this good news comes a handful of grim new player constraints. In a forum post, Blizzard explained the added restrictions on new (unverified) players who buy the game online.
– No public game access for unverified digital purchasers.
– No auction house access (real-money or gold) for unverified digital purchasers.
– Unverified digital purchasers cannot trade items or drop items for other players to receive.
– Unverified digital purchasers are not able to chat in any public or game channels.
– Unverified digital purchasers cannot attach a custom message to friend requests, but they can send/accept friend requests, and play with their friends.
– Global Play is not available for unverified digital purchasers.
Until a player is verified, a process that can take up to 72 hours, they are subject to the conditions listed above.
