Tecmo Koei has released a new trailer for Dead or Alive 5 and it shows us a new character for the franchise. The man known as "Rig" is a Taekwondo fighter, which, if you didn't know, is a Korean martial art that heavily emphasizes kicks instead of punches.
You get to see Rig in action in the trailer below; and as expected, he favors his feet more than his fists when it comes to duking it out.
If you're wondering why he's called "Rig," Tecmo reveals that he used to run an oil rig at a young age, and his colleagues simply call him Rig because he, himself, doesn't know his own name or where he comes from. Aside from that, he also learned Taekwondo on the oil rig where he came up with his own set of moves. Yeah, it doesn't make for a compelling case, but keep in mind that this is a fighting game and they're not really known for deep narratives, no?
After seeing Rig move, would you pick him compared to Ryu or Kasumi? He won't "jiggle" at all, but at least he's got those menacing tattoos, right?
Dead or Alive 5 is set for release this September 26 for the Xbox 360 and PS3.
