Back in 2014, Nidhogg graced us with it’s presence on PC, Mac, and PS4/Vita. The experience centers around two players dueling using their acrobatic skills, swords, and fists. The first to reach the opponent’s side of the screen was the winner. But here we are in 2016, and now we have Nidhogg 2 to look forward to. The development team over at Messhof revealed the news via a trailer.
The most obvious difference in this sequel is the new art direction. While the first game had stick figure characters, Nidhogg 2 has taken an interesting leap in design choice. The game will be available to try out during Twitchcon this year, for those interested in giving it a test run. The game promises to have “10+ levels of fencing goodness” in multiplayer (local and online), plus a tournament mode. There’s also plans for a single-player option that pits you against AI opponents and a challenge round every so often. That giant worm from the first game is guaranteed to make a return appearance, of course.
Nidhogg 2 is set to arrive in 2017 for PC (Mac) and “maybe some other platforms,” according to the developer. To keep in the loop with the game’s news, check in on their website, Twitter, and Facebook from time to time to see what’s up.
