Huge Update to The Division Fixes A Lot of Issues

September 15, 2016 by Kris Kittie

The game will now be a more streamlined and less frustrating experience overall.

Tom Clancy’s The Division has had a lot of issues, but with update 1.4, players were promised a change and also a reason to return to the series.

The PTS (public test server) is scheduled to debut sometime next week after an initial delay. The public test server allows players to be more involved in the development of the game and give feedback on new features.

Time to Kill is the second issue that will be addressed in this update. Currently enemies prove difficult for players who cannot or do not want to devote large blocks to time to defeating them. Essentially these enemies are bullet sponges that deal a lot of damage.

The huge spike in Time to Kill after level 30 is not optimal and not how the game should behave. This goes for both optimized and non-optimized gear.

The game, in other words is being optimized for a small percentage of high level players with fully optimized gear, leaving other players who haven’t reached this echelon pretty frustrated.

In order to fix this issue, the enemy Time to Kill will mirror the gradual incline pre-level 30 by fixing their health and damage scaling.

There is also a big jump between each increment for difficulty levels and you need the better gear for completing the harder difficulties. So this is essentially a Catch 22 situation.

The fix will enable you to select a World Level which sets the level for all NPC’s you’ll encounter across all scenarios. However this will only come into play once your character hits level 30. This also affects loot and gear drop levels.

The tiers available are adjusted for gear scores, allowing you to max out the gear score for each, after which you will be notified that you can progress to the next tier.

The max NPC level will now only be 33, scrapping 34 and 35 completely. The level 33 enemies after the update are not going to be the same as level 33 prior to the update, so you will still have enough of a challenge.

Heroic difficulty will not exist only for incursions. And all enemies will not have a chance to drop goodies of all kinds. You can pick up everything from trash mobs, but this obviously doesn’t apply to incursions where loot is rewarded at the end.

To round out the update, patrolling bosses are now coming back to PvE for those who aren’t too fond of the Dark Zone.
