If it wasn’t already obvious, with the announcement of Assassin’s Creed III: Liberation, Ubisoft has reiterated their interest in the Sony handheld. Last week at E3, IGN had a heart-to-heart with Tony Key, Ubi’s senior VP of sales and marketing, to talk about why they are still interested in the Vita.
Ubisoft supported Vita’s launch with games like Rayman Origins, Lumines Electronic Symphony, Dungeon Hunter Alliance, and more.
Key told IGN, “It’s a really good platform and we’ve always liked it. The way it’s designed, it’s a beautiful piece of hardware. It’s got cool features that you can’t get anywhere else. And Assassin’s Creed, we believe, is the right type of game for that system. It’s definitely too early to say that Vita’s not going to be a success.”
Much like how the PlayStation 3 took awhile to come into its own, the Vita will too, with time. This holiday season will not only see the release of Liberation, but also Call of Duty: Black Ops [Declassified] making this fall a fantastic time to own a Vita.
“We’re actually very happy that there’s another big Vita game coming for Christmas from a competitor because we think that will raise all boats,” Key said. “It’s going to generate a lot of interest in the Vita this holiday season.”
