It was quite the shock to see Shigeru Miyamoto at the recent Apple iPhone event which showcased their latest Apple iPhone 7. The event welcomed the famed creative creator behind some of Nintendo’s most well-known franchises in order to showcase a new entry to the Mario series.
His presence came with a brand new mobile video game announcement from Nintendo, Super Mario Run. Essentially, this is similar to other franchises “run” video games in which players will swipe and tap on their smartphone displays in order to move Mario through a series of oncoming obstacles.
Nintendo has been entering the mobile smartphone market lately and the announcement of Super Mario Run at Apple’s event may have left plenty of Android gamers wondering if this title would be making its way outside of Apple’s iPhone.
As it stands right now Super Mario Run will be heading to iOS within the holiday season. However, it seems that Android smartphone owners will have the ability to enjoy the game at a later date. News of this came from IGN as they spoke to Shigeru Miyamoto.
According to IGN, Shigeru Miyamoto chose iPhone as a starting platform because of the stability iOS gave the developers. However, Android users will receive Super Mario Run, but it won’t be until sometime next year. Unfortunately, we don’t have a launch window just yet, but knowing that Super Mario Run is not an Apple exclusive should put some Android gamers at ease.
