Dark Flame is a 2D ARPG, otherwise known as a Metroidvania game. It’s a true nod to the greats of retro games, and inspired heavily by Castlevania. However, a lot of aspects have also been inspired by the game Dark Souls.
You play as the protagonist Taharial, a crusader in the Baltic Crusades. Insanity claims those around you, so you set off on a quest to defeat the unknown evil before all is lost in chaos.
Dark Flame features:
- A unique leveling system that allows the player to level their own stats
- The Pyre Concept that allows the player to modify weapons and spells
- A diverse storyline where you struggle between what is right and wrong
- Different cosmetic appearances with weapons and armor
- Hidden rooms and secrets
- Unlockable talents and hidden powers
Lead Developer and Dark Flame Founder, Warren Smith says, “I’m hoping to deliver a fantastic gaming experience to those who, like me, want that retro action feel. Most players have enjoyed what I have so far, and I believe they will get that warm fuzzy feeling when they load up the final version of the game. The pre-alpha demo is now available to all Patrons supporting the game’s development on Patreon. The game has been Steam greenlit and will be arriving on PC late 2017.
Gamers now have a chance to show up in the game’s credits if they back Dark Flame‘s Patreon starting at the $1 tier. However this only applies for Patrons who sign up before December (after that the minimum tier required for your name in the credits increases to $5).
As a Patron of the game, you will be getting monthly updated builds of the game demo as the team works towards finishing the game.
