Nintendo has kept quiet about its mysterious NX console, but apparently the wait will not be for much longer. Analysts told The Wall Street Journal that they expect Nintendo to “release NX details” by early October, so it will be just a few more weeks before we know more.
The NX, or whatever its official name will be, is scheduled to go on sale in March 2017. It’s rumored to double as a home console that connects to a TV along with a portable device for on-the-go gaming. Other rumors have claimed that the system will use cartridges.
Recently Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime discussed the company’s plans for improving its luck with the NX compared to the struggling Wii U.
“One of the things that we have to do better when we launch the NX–we have to do a better job communicating the positioning for the product,” he said. “We have to do a better job helping people to understand its uniqueness and what that means for the game playing experience.”
Fils-Aime noted that the frequency at which it releases new games is key. One of the Wii U’s issues was its lack of regular, noteworthy game releases, especially from Nintendo itself.
“We have to do a better job from a software planning standpoint to have that continuous beat of great new games that are motivating more and more people to pick up the hardware and more and more people to pick up the software,” he explained.
