Activision has announced that they're not holding a Call of Duty expo later this year. The event, which was called Call of Duty XP, showed of the multiplayer for the first time for Modern Warfare 3 last year.
The publisher released a statement announce that while there's no Call of Duty XP this year, this doesn't mean there won't be in the future.
Last year's Call of Duty XP was a great way to celebrate our Call of Duty community and reveal Call of Duty Elite. Each year we try to surprise and delight our fans and this year we are planning to host some new experiences for our fans around the globe including at Gamescom later this summer in Cologne, Germany. While its possible we may host another XP in the future, we don't have plans to hold the event this year.
I'm honestly wondering what "new experiences" Treyarch plans to roll out this year at Gamescom. Could it be they're actually doing something new to the multiplayer this year?
While this might sadden Call of Duty fans, does a game really warrant a convention of its own? I know there are a ton of Callof Duty fans worldwide, but a whole expo just for one game, really? I admit, I've played my fair share of Call of Duty, but paying and going to an event just for one game is a tad too much in my opinon.
What new experiences do you want Activision to announce next? Maybe DLC weapons packs? We'll know for sure once Gamescom kicks off this coming August.
