It might just be me, but the only game in Nintendo's press conference that really showed off the Wii U's tablet controller was Ubisoft's Zombi U.
Set aside the cheesy name, the game's presser trailer showed off ingenious uses for the tablet. It can be used as a sonar device, an inventory screen that won't require you to go to a separate menu, a scanner and even as a viewpoint for a sniper rfile.
I'll let you be the judge if this will be another "gimmick" that will lose steam once the novelty has worn off.
I do admit that using the tablet to shake off zombies does indeed look cool.
Also of note, while this wasn't show to work in-game, it seems that the tablet's camera can be used to scan your face in the game as a zombie. This was done by none other than Nintendo US president Reggie Fils-Aime who scanned his face to become a zomie who "loves French food."
Could this also be done as a replacement for the game's protagonists? One can hope.
Zombi U is scheduled to be a Wii U launch game though its date has not been revealed just yet.
