While God of War III might have seemed like the series was taking a breather, we all know that's not the case with God of War: Ascension. In saying that, it wouldn't be a complete E3 presser for Sony if they didn't show off Kratos doing what he does best, no?
The trailer starts with the usual God of War gameplay. Kratos kills bad guys and said bad guys drop orbs for Kratos to collect. Seems par for the course and all that. What isn't the norm is Kratos using his newfound powers to magically rebuild a broken bridge.
It the continues with Kratos battling bigger enemies until he comes face-to-face with a half-man half-elephant creature. Naturally, Kratos disposes of him in the most brutal way possible…by stabbing his head repeatedly until he opens it to show off the creature's brains.
The trailer ends with Kratos cutting up a Kraken's limbs before jumping blades out onto its mouth.
Was that impressive or too much of the same old thing?
Also worth noting is that we now an official release date for the game. God of War: Ascension will be coming out on March 12, 2013 exclusively for the PS3.
