The city building simulation is back in the form of SimCity, which is what EA's calling the 5th entry into the long-running SimCity franchise.
You'll have the ability to shape your city and the citizens who live in it by making all sorts of decisions that ranges from industry to economy. You can invest in heavy industry and build up your city at the expense of your Sims' health, or implement green technology while taking a risk with higher taxes.
In addition to building your own city, you can team up with friends to solve global challenges like launching a space shuttle, reducing carbon emissions, or building wonders together. All of your activities will be tallied on global and regional leaderboards.
Today, EA showed some of the game in action at their E3 2012 presentation that showed off the basics like the placement of buildings, to more advanced features like constructing a large airport with other players.
In addition to the preview, EA has announced a Limited Edition of SimCity that you get for preordering called the SimCity Heroes and Villains set. Here's what you'll get:
- New Characters— Protector of SimCity MaxisMan vs. The Evil Dr. Vu and his henchman.
- Crime Waves—The Evil Dr. Vu is loose and will create havoc in your city. Normal police have their hands full against this Super Villain. The Evil Dr. Vu will solicit Sims to become his henchmen and carry out his dastardly deeds.
- Super Hero HQ – Place MaxisMan’s headquarters in your city to combat crime and keep your Sims safe. Upgrade with the Turbo Machine garage and The Reticulator landing pad.
- Evil Villain Lair – Place Dr. Vu’s Lair in your city to unleash a crime wave. As The Evil Dr. Vu commits more crimes, upgrade his lair with a special laboratory and a garage for the Evil VuMobile.
