Brutality Defines Tomb Raider Reboot in New Trailer

June 1, 2012 by Ian Miles Cheong

Lara Croft may be taking her darkest journey to date.

Square Enix has spliced together a new trailer for Tomb Raider, which will be presented at this year's E3 2012.

Unlike her previous adventures, Lara Croft's latest foray appears rife with brutality. An apparent survivor of a planecrash, Lara wakes up to find herself bound by her legs and hanging upside down in a cave. Nearby, another crash survivor appears to have been tortured to death and strung up for display.

There's even a point in the trailer where a villain attempts to rape her. Crystal Dynamics clearly isn't fooling around when they said that the next entry into the long-running series would be Lara's darkest journey to date.

Tomb Raider has been given a release date of March 5, 2013 on the PC, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3.
