Independent Developer Pencil Test Studios in partnership with indie publisher Versus Evil today announced the release of Armikrog for the Nintendo eShop on the Wii U, Xbox One via the Xbox Self-Publishing program, and PlayStation 4 computer entertainment system for $9.99, £7.99 and €9.99.
“When we initially funded our game through Kickstarter there was demand for a Wii U version and it totally made sense from a design standpoint,” said Pencil Test Studios co-founder Mike Dietz. “Armikrog was created using classic sculpting, set building and clay and puppet fabrication techniques and it truly was a labor of love. After the release on PC we were able to turn our attention to the console versions of the game and we are incredibly happy to announce that console gamers can now play our creation on the console platform of their choice!”
Armikrog has players following the adventures of space explorer Tommynaut and his pal Beak-Beak (a blind talking dog) as they crash land on an alien planet and get trapped in a fortress called Armikrog. Players must guide the pair through tough situations in hand-crafted environments, solving puzzles along the way.
“Armikrog is a great stop-motion experience that can now be enjoyed on the consoles,” said Versus Evil General Manager Steve Escalante. “A handcrafted, one-of-a-kind video game, Armikrog appeals to gamers of all ages and it has been amazing seeing this game come to life. Its transition to the major consoles is a treat and we are very excited to launch a game on all three consoles!”
