Sony plans to sell a new standard model of the PlayStation 4 along with the “Neo” to be introduced next month. This is according to a report in the Wall Street Journal.
The report, in addition to yesterday’s leak of a slimline PS4 (shown above) on an auction site gives a bit of insight on how Sony is going to expand the PlayStation 4 brand to keep a strong foothold in the console market.
Sony has not commented following this report. Sony confirmed in June that the Neo was on the way, in addition to announcing a media event on September 7th where it is expected to be revealed.
It is unclear whether the slim PS4 that was listed yesterday is the design for the base model only, or for both the Neo and the regular PS4. The box in yesterday’s auction listing has since been taken down. It was listed as a 500 GB model and cost £295 (about $385).
The Neo is expected to have a larger hard drive and Sony is expected to sell its new base design for less than the PS4’s current price of $350.
