Cygames made an RPG game for mobile devices called Granblue Fantasy, released only over in Japan back in March 2014. What makes it a compelling game is that composer Nobuo Uematsu and character designer Hideo Minaba from the Final Fantasy series of games worked together on Granblue.
Those same boys are back in town, apparently. Cygames just announced a multiplayer action-RPG titled Granblue Fantasy Project Re: Link, a 3D step up that will be developed by Platinum Games.
As you can tell by the trailer, the Granblue universe has a bit of the Final Fantasy influence in its design, by taken into it’s own direction. Along with the Final Fantasy alums mentioned earlier, Cygames has Tetsuya Fukuhara is the game director, while Koichi Haruta is in charge of production. While Platinum Games is the game’s developer, Cygames will be in charge of making sure the overall project stays in focus.
We don’t know when Granblue Fantasy Project Re: Link, or have any idea of what platform it’ll be on. But Cygames did say they’re about 10% done with its development so far. You’ll need to stick around their website page to find these things out, whenever they get announced. Will it even come to the West? If the gaming community is interested, there’s a fair chance.
