The BBC aired a very important news piece yesterday: the Covenant are attacking. Some Halo fans might have been led to believe that when the logo for the United Nations Space Command appeared in the background. Someone at the BBC had thought that that was the logo for the United Nations Security Council, thanks to a Google Image search gone wrong.
A quick search for UNSC on Google brings up multiple variations of the image in the video and somebody who knew nothing about Halo or about the United Nations Security Council could have easily made this mistake. With that said, they're working on an internationally broadcast news program, so why on earth they could go through life without having at least a passing knowledge of either is a little bit worrying.
Aunty Beeb has since issued a statement to Eurogamer. "BBC News makes every effort to ensure the accuracy of all images broadcast, however very occasionally mistakes do happen. Unfortunately an incorrect logo was used during a segment on last week's News at One bulletin and we apologise to viewers for the mistake.
"The image was not broadcast in our later bulletins."
