Mojang revealed today (through its business developer Daniel Kaplan) that Minecraft has sold more than 9.2 million copies across all platforms, with the PC version taking the bulk of the sales at 6 million units.
The rest of the sales figures includes Minecraft for the Xbox 360, iOS, and Android, where the game is playable in various, albeit slightly more simplified forms.
Kaplan revealed the figures in a tweet in response to a question directed at the game’s creator, Markus “Notch” Persson.
We can expect to see Minecraft’s sales continue to surge as its developers continue to release new features for the game for free.
