See 15 Minutes of The Surge in Action

August 16, 2016 by Nick Monroe

See the killer Man-Machine at work in his natural habitat.

This game poked it’s head out back around E3, and makes a comeback now at Gamescom. The Surge and Deck13 take us into the sci-fi action of this upcoming RPG game with a demonstration of fifteen fresh minutes of new gameplay to witness. The focus on combat might invoke the feelings you get from the Dark Souls style of game, with it’s own twists to the formula.

It’s a game about the converging of mankind and machine into one superweapon, a world where future and fantasy seem to blur together. As the protagonist in their exo-suit, you need to utilize various implants and upgrades to the maximum potential while being aware of the limitations in your power core. Variety in your combat style isn’t a challenge, given the extensive degree of combinations of make-shift weapons you can create around the industrial complex landscape. The more power to your core, the more opportunities you have access to. This includes the ability to give powerful doors a nice jolt of energy and overcome their locks to reach new areas of the facility. Kill enough of the enemy to gain a solid foundation of blueprints and resources, then take down the game’s bosses to get the best of what’s out there. At the end of it all, you’ll be curious as to whether man or machine is really at the helm here.

The Surge releases in 2017 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One. To find out more about what’s in store with the game, check out their website, Twitter, and Facebook.
