While the franchise's luster might have dimished somewhat over the years, it's hard to argue with the fact that Gran Turismo is still a major franchise for Sony. In saying that, it seems Gran Turismo 6 is now currently brewing over at Polyphony Digital.
This news was unearthed in Sony Associate Brand Manager Brian Dunn's LinkedIn profile where he lists "Gran Turismo 6" as one of the titles he's currently "managing."
While his profile now has since been edited to omit Gran Turismo 6, we're lucky someone was smart enough to take a screenshot of it and we've posted it for you below.
Of course, this could just very well be a typo and mean Gran Turismo 5, but if you read closely, he talks about GT5 in past tense — which could also mean this is just a hastily-done editing job to avoid snoops like us.
While I have no doubt Gran Turismo 6 will come out at some point in time, the bigger question here is — which platform is it coming out for? Polyphony Digital is notorious for taking their time when it comes to the Gran Turismo games and a good example of this is none other than GT5. The game was first announced back in 2006 but amidst various promises and delays, the game didn't see the light of day until November 2010.
I'm guessing Sony announces Gran Turismo 6 at some event in the future — possibly at this year's E3 — but it will somehow "move" as a launch game for the PlayStation 4.
