Microsoft Confirms 2 TB Xbox One S Launch Model Is a Limited-Time Version

If this one’s the one you want, grab it now.

The current version of the Xbox One S that’s in stores now will only be available for a limited time. So if that’s the one you want, it’d be wise to act fast and snag one as soon as possible.

Microsoft confirmed this information with GameSpot  saying, “The 2 TB Xbox One S was released as a special launch edition in limited quantities only. We’re thrilled at the amount of interest we’ve received and we are always looking for opportunities to offer choice and fantastic value to our fans. Please check with your local retailer to determine whether the 2 TB Xbox One S is still available in your market.”

Certain retailers have already sold out of their quantity of 2 TB systems. Eurogamer reported that they had sold out for good, and now that appears to be true.

When first announced, availability for this $400 system was “limited”. It was unclear at the time that this mean no more would be produced (as opposed to simply being hard to find due to high demand).

The availability isn’t a huge problem, but if gamers want an Xbox One S, they’re likely better off waiting for several upcoming bundles. For example, on August 23rd there will be three new versions offered: a 1 TB model with Madden NFL 17 for $350 and 500 GB ($300) and 1TB ($350) models that come with Halo 5: Guardians and Halo: The Master Chief Collection.
