Since the release of XCOM 2, Long War Studios has worked on multiple mod projects in order to enhance the base game’s experience. Previously, they’ve launched a LaserPack full of new weapons, and a PerkPack that granted your soldiers more varied abilities.
Now with the AlienPack, the enemies of XCOM receive an upgrade to make the challenge more entertaining.
You can read the update for yourself here, but the meat and potatoes of this update is of course the enemies overhaul. Drone’s come in two variations of an ADVENT scout and a crowd control unit. The Naja is a Viper subspecies with sniper capabilities, while the Sidewinder Viper subspecies is designed to be a fast flanker. Mutons now have an Elite form that’s much more powerful, while the Sectoid Commander is an enhanced form with mightier psionic capacity. The Chryssalid Soldier is a larger form of the Chryssalid, and the Hive Queen is even larger than the solider form, earning it the loyalty of the Chryssalid grunt species. In terms of other ADVENT adversaries: there’s the MEC Archer, the Sentry, Rocketeer, Grenadier, and Gunner. Finally, the Muton Centurion that was available as a standalone mod previously is included in this pack, but you’ll need to uninstall that individual mod in order for the Alien Pack to function properly.
XCOM 2 is available now for PC, Mac, and Linux. But it’s also scheduled to arrive for PS4 and Xbox One at the end of this September. To keep up to date with the game, check out XCOM 2‘s website, Twitter, and Facebook.
