The folks over at Call of Duty have uploaded a new cinematic that sets the stage for the Infinite Warfare story campaign. A battered and bruised Lt. Reyes makes his way to the Command Center of the Retribution, in order to assess the causalities of the latest attack and debrief.
The fallout from the Geneva invasion by the Settlement Defense Front claimed many lives, including everyone that outranked your protagonist. The initial stakes are made clear. You and the other remaining ship are ordered to do everything they can to buy Earth enough time to rebuild their fleet numbers back up. Lt. Reyes is promoted to the rank of Commander, making him in charge of the UNSA Retribution.
Then the real work begins in earnest.
