There’s no shortage of rumors and supposed leaks when it comes to Nintendo’s upcoming console, code-named the Nintendo NX. The latest rumor comes from a source close to The Wall Street Journal, who revealed that the console will be able to play Nintendo’s smartphone video games.
Just earlier this week, we reported on a new set of rumors that came from sources close to Eurogamer. It was stated that the upcoming Nintendo NX console would be portable and would be able to play cartridge based video games. However, it was also confirmed the console would be less powerful than the PlayStation 4.
Today IGN revealed that a source of The Wall Street Journal’s confirmed the upcoming Nintendo console would be able to play the line of smartphone video game applications that are being developed in conjunction of Nintendo.
This includes the upcoming Animal Crossing and Fire Emblem titles. We’re curious to see if the console would be able to connect with the already established Pokemon Go application as it would require a data connection along with location services.
Regardless, we have to label these statements as rumors until Nintendo makes any official statements on the matter. If the Nintendo company is planning to launch the console in March of 2017, we’ll likely see a reveal and announcement for the Nintendo NX soon to further hype up its coming launch.
