According to a Kotaku source, there will be steam vouchers coming to GameStop. This is quite mind boggling to me since GameStop is a fairly successful store despite everyone’s dire loathing for it’s low low low trade in values. It’s true that digital distribution is on the rise but it’s still no different than going into GameStop and buying a game. I can get a newly release game for $60 either on Steam or GameStop. Until Steam and other digital distribution companies lower the price of digitally distributed games I don’t see a reason to favor one or the other besides laziness…and possibly the rising gas prices here in the States.
I will say it is nice, if this is true, that GameStop is basically getting punched in the gut here. They’ve been douchebags way too long.
You can maybe possibly start seeing Steam vouchers at your local GameStop on May 15th.
