Today was a monumental day for EVE online players, they went in to space…sort of. At 12 PM GMT a replica EVE pod was launched that contained all of the names of the players of EVE Online. This space visit was a "thank you" from CCP to the players of EVE online. A better thank you would have been to actually send everyone of them into space…however Virgin's space travel service isn't…affordable for the masses yet.
The launch was apparently successful and CCP has posted some "teaser" pictures from the flight of the pod. It's unknown how successful the launch was as CCP hasn't released the video from the livestream. Curse ye time zones and other obligations. If all went well though the pod was supposed to land in Kleifarvatn lake and will be picked up by the Icelandic coast guard.
